At least 6 killed in derailment

At least six people were killed and 18 injured when a cargo train known as "the Beast" derailed in Tabasco state, southern Mexico, on Sunday.

Tabasco state government said that at least 250 Honduran migrants had been on the train heading north from the Guatemala border.

Rescuers brought in two cranes to lift the eight derailed cars overnight, fearing finding more victims in the wreck.

Thousands of migrants ride the roofs of the train cars each year, braving dangerous conditions for a chance at crossing into the US.

Railway officials said heavy rains may have caused tracks to shift, but Tabasco public security minister Audomaro Martinez Zapata said thieves had removed nails and metal plaques from the rails.
