Animal rights activists undeterred

Animal rights activists are on "amber alert" as they prepare for badger culls to begin across Gloucestershire tomorrow.

Group Stop the Cull have set up a "wounded badger patrol" as the government launches its campaign to halt the spread of bovine tuberculosis.

Authorised companies aim to kill 70 per cent of badgers - around 5,000 - in west Somerset and west Gloucestershire.

A man, reported to be an anti-badger cull protester, has been arrested at a site belonging to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) today.
