Blair: Beef up state secrets

Cloak-and-dagger former Met chief commissioner Lord Ian Blair demanded beefed-up laws to keep facts from the public today claiming that "the state has to have secrets."

He gave his two-penn'orth following the security services' nine-hour detention under anti-terror laws of David Miranda - partner of NSA leaks reporter Glen Greenwald.

Lord Blair, who famously tried to block a probe into the 2005 murder of Jean Charles de Menezes by armed police said there needed to be a review of what happens to people with unauthorised information.
