Arab forces stood no chance against Israel

It's a pity Mary Symons has swallowed the zionist myth about poor little Israel being under threat from the Arab armies (M Star August 14).

Israel's existence was never under threat - not in 1948, not in 1967 and not even in 1973.

Even before the zionists declared Israel a state in 1948 hundreds of Palestinian villages had been razed to the ground, turning thousands of people into refugees - a status they still have today.

The terrorist groups Irgun Zvei Leumi, Stern Gang and Hagganah - the latter to become the IOF (Israeli Offence Force) - were armed to the hilt with all kinds of weapons.

The Arabs were no match for them.

In addition, the USSR supported partition and so was not on the side of the Palestinians in this matter.

The Palestinians had every right to reject the partitioning of their country when 56 per cent of it was being given to the immigrants, who at that time were only 6 per cent of the population.

We should remember that the Holocaust was a European phenomenon and nothing to do with the Palestinians or any other Arab nation.

However they have been ethnically cleansed ever since.
